THE ALTON OLDTIMERS - PRESERVED FIRE ENGINE COLLECTORS
Ex Hampshire Bedford TKG A35 OPX was one of four Bedford TKG,s built by HCB Angus for the then Hampshire Fire Brigade in 1983 and was allocated to liphook. Arriving on station on the 15th dec 1983 having been fitted out by HFB workshops. During its time at Liphook it was involved in an accident when a tree fell across the front of the vehicle en route to a fire call. The subsequent damage resulted in a new front being fitted to the appliance, hence it only having one fire sign on the front panel following its rebuild. On the 31st jan 1997 the applaince was reallocated to Grayshott before moving to driver training in July 1997. It was sold out of service in May 1999 when it was sold to Thruxton Race Circuit.Since the alton Oldtimers have owned the appliance it has gone under a total locker restoration back to as records show its original stowage with all original issue Hampshire Kit . The only difference between this appliance and other Hampshire Fire Brigade Bedford TKG,s is the stowage of 45mm duraline hose stowed in two hose racks in the O/S and N/S front lockers.
